Principal's Message
Dear TCE Families,
As the principal of Twin City Elementary, it is my pleasure to welcome you to another exciting school year! We are thrilled to have our students back at TCE.
This year marks my 24th year in education and my 21st at Twin City Elementary, where I’ve had the privilege of serving as a teacher, instructional coach, assistant principal, and principal. I'm also excited to welcome Ms. Chasity Rhoden as our new assistant principal. She brings a wealth of experience from her work as a classroom teacher and as a Resource Specialist with the Georgia Department of Education.
Our mission remains clear: to provide all students with high-quality instruction in a safe, nurturing, and structured learning environment. We are committed to working closely with families and staff to ensure every child reaches their full potential.
We continue to celebrate the fact that Twin City Elementary has been recognized as both a Title I Distinguished School and a Title I Reward School—a testament to the hard work and dedication of our students and educators. In recent years, we’ve implemented several key instructional initiatives, including the adoption of a systematic phonics program and a stronger focus on structured literacy. Additionally, our Bulldog Block continues to be an essential time for intervention and acceleration, helping us close learning gaps and prepare students for future success.
In addition to academics, we strive to provide a well-rounded experience through opportunities in the arts, athletics, and extracurriculars. Students enjoy enrichment through STEAM, P.E., music, and art, as well as clubs such as Jr. Beta and Music Club. This summer, our Jr. Beta Club represented us with pride at national competitions, bringing home several awards, including national honors for Songfest. We’re incredibly grateful to the sponsors who helped make these achievements possible!
We believe deeply in the potential of every child and know that their success depends on strong partnerships between home and school. We appreciate your involvement in events like Family STEAM Night and Student of the Month celebrations and encourage your continued participation this year. Your membership in the Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) helps us stay connected and united in our efforts to support students.
As we begin this new year, we also welcome new faces to our TCE family. Please join us in welcoming Joan Turner, Kyler Akridge, Meredith Cross, Amanda Taylor, Jessica Bautista, Marlee Lanier, Melinda Rowland, Krystal Kurtz, Annette Worthen, and Patty Collins along with Ms. Chasity Rhoden. We’re excited for the talents and energy each will bring to our school.
As we approach the new school year, I have listed a few helpful dates and reminders.
- Open House is July 30, 2025.
- The first day of school is August 4, 2025.
- TCE’s Title One Parent Meeting is August 28, 2025.
- TCE’s school supply list has been posted on the Emanuel County School’s website as well as the TCE Facebook page.
Please take a moment to review the student handbook with your child—it includes important policies and procedures. Stay connected with us through our school website, Facebook page, and KiNVOLVED (KiNVO) messages. Weekly newsletters will also be sent home every Friday.
It is an honor for the Twin City Elementary staff and me to be a part of this school community. Together, we will make this a year full of growth, learning, and success for every student.
Thank you for your continued support. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out at 478-763-2253.
Warm regards,
Jessica S. Collins
