Principal's Message

Dear Parents and Students,

As principal of Twin City Elementary, it is my pleasure to welcome you back to the 24-25 school year! We are excited to have students and staff return to a newly renovated building. This is my twenty-third year in education and twentieth year at TCE where I have also served as a teacher, instructional coach, and Assistant Principal. Ms. Christie Henry will be joining me as the Assistant Principal. She has spent most of her career at TCE where she has served as a teacher. Our primary goal is to ensure that all of our students receive the best instruction possible and to provide a safe, nurturing, and orderly environment. We look forward to working together to help lead our students and staff and watch our school flourish!

I am pleased to report that standardized test scores and classroom assessments indicate growth and proficiency across various subjects. For the past few years we have implemented changes to ensure that our students receive the best resources and instructional opportunities possible. We are now performing better than 80.3% of schools in the state in Georgia. Our dedicated team of teachers and staff members at Twin City Elementary are continually learning and growing through collaboration and professional development. We strive to provide a curriculum based on research and best practices as well as personalized instructional strategies for students based on individual needs. I amexcited to highlight important instructional initiatives, which include the expanded use of our phonics program along with a focus on structured literacy at the K-3 levels. Over the past year, our students have shown growth with a newly designed master schedule allowing a designated reading intervention period in every grade level. This forty-five minute block has allowed our teachers to close the gaps in reading ensuring that our students are well-prepared for the next grade-level. We are proud of the progress and look forward to continued growth.

I look forward to sharing the changes made to enhance our building. Some of the improvements include new flooring, new paint, and repairs to certain areas such as the roof and heating and air system. We will begin the new school year with an overall new feel.

Children of our community have great potential, and it requires every individual in their lives to work together for their success. Collaboration and cooperation between our school and your home is important for your child’s education experience. We appreciate the support and attendance during programs throughout the year such as Family STEAM Night, Student of the Month Celebrations, and the Winter Wonderland Festival. We welcome your participation and support this school year and encourage your membership in the Parent Teacher Organization (PTO). Please view our school’s website andFacebook page for instructional support, updates and quick announcements. Our weekly newsletters will be sent home on Fridays and teachers will continue to utilize KiNVOLVED (KiNVO). A collaborative effort will enable us to reach our collective goals and celebrate the achievements of our students.

Twin City Elementary School works hard to make sure that our students receive a quality education in all subject areas.

Title I

The intent of Federal Programs is to “help all children have the opportunity to obtain a high-quality education and reach proficiency on challenging state and academic standards and assessments.” Our Federal Programs also strive to “enable schools to provide opportunities for at-risk and disadvantaged children to acquire the knowledge and skills contained in the challenging State content standards and to meet the challenging State performance standards developed for all children.”  Federal Programs “supplements” and not supplants what the required Local and State funds provide.
